Financial Freedom
Definition
Financial freedom is the ability to spend money freely, with no concern as to
what such extravagant expenditure might be doing to your bank balance. Basically, money enables one to be a
truly generous human being and since many people suffer high levels of stress,
due to real concerns they have about their financial situations, money can
provide one with an ongoing experience of living a stress-free life, as well as
becoming a caring human being, aware of and contributing towards the needs of
those less fortunate.
A plethora of “How to Get Rich” books
Despite the ever-increasing volume of literature on wealth and how to get rich,
the rate at which individuals are becoming millionaires stays much the same,
relative to the world’s rapidly growing population.
Although Wallace Wattles, in his book, “Financial Success”, comes the closest to
getting the essence of what becoming financially abundant is really all about,
nevertheless, after reading this book, the reader is left with more questions
than answers as to exactly what he or she must do next in order to put it all
into practice and so become financially free.
The work of Thomas Troward
Thomas Troward
(1847-1916)
in a series of lectures he gave in London and Edinburgh captured I believe, the
essence of what being financially abundant is really all about, through his
concept of “mental science”.
Esoteric material
I have managed to
obtain a copy of all Thomas Troward’s lectures. But I find that not only is his
language convoluted in itself, but the concepts he expounds, somewhat esoteric.
To a large extent this is due to the fact that they were hastily written from
his lecture notes in response to demands from the attendees of his lectures.
Troward’s personal apologia
In his own words he says,
“The different subjects have necessarily been treated very briefly, and
the addresses can only be considered as suggestions for lines of thought that
readers will be able to work out for themselves”. And doing exactly this, on
behalf of those who would like to have the “source code” to the doorway to
financial freedom, is a task I now enthusiastically take upon myself.
